Medicare Enrollment - Delays??!!!

You could have Uninsured gap for several months if you are not careful!!

You have three months before your 65th Birth Month and three months after to do your "Initial Enrollment Period"  If you enroll in the last 4 months of your enrollment period - your actual Coverage will start 3 months after your enrollment. Be careful when setting the date to end your current coverage to start your Medicare Coverage to ensure there is not an "uninsured" gap.

Check out this Chart from Medicare.gov  :

When will my Medicare coverage start?

If you sign up for Part A (if you have to buy it) and/or Part B in this month: Your coverage starts:
The month you turn 65 1 month after you sign up
1 month after you turn 65 2 months after you sign up
2 months after you turn 65 3 months after you sign up
3 months after you turn 65 3 months after you sign up
During the January 1–March 31 General Enrollment Period July 1

Make sure not to cancel your current coverage until the actual start date of your medicare coverage.

Contact Next Phase Financial for help planning your Social Security and Medicare Start Dates to maximumize your retirement financial and medical future.
